If you drive north from the Langdale ferry to Sechelt and then turn right to go up the east side of Sechelt Inlet, you'll reach the neighbourhoods of Sandy Hook and Tuwanek. Sandy Hook is a residential area, blessed with outstanding views up Sechelt Inlet. Nearby Porpoise Bay Provincial Park boasts one of the few sandy beaches on the coast, and offers tent and RV camping, hot showers, a sandy waterside picnic area, children's play area, and some walking trails. Tuwanek is another residential area, located further up the inlet, at the foot of Mount Richardson. It is a residential neigbourhood with a "country cottage" feel, although there are many permanent residents. From Tuwanek, you can access to the Tetrahedron Plateau and Provincial Park where you can enjoy snowshoeing and cross-country/back-country skiing/boarding in the winter, and hiking, biking and camping in the summer. (The park is home to the two watersheds that provide drinking water to the Sunshine Coast. Please be familiar with park rules before visiting Tetrahedron Park.) The Sandy Hook/Tuwanek area is a great place to launch into Sechelt Inlet. There is a public boat launch, and kayak rentals and tours are offered. Further up the inlet there are water access only campgrounds for kayakers and boaters to enjoy.
