Pender Harbour is a large area, which has been referred to as the "Venice
of the North", as it encompasses a myriad of waterways. The area includes
the villages of Madeira Park, Kleindale, Garden Bay and Irvine's Landing.
Pender Harbour Pender Harbour is a boater's mecca, as there is so much coastline to explore and plenty of protected moorage. It is also a convenient starting point for a trip up to the renowned Desolation Sound. A number of artists make their home in this area, and there are several galleries to visit. Madeira Park is also home to the Pender Harbour Music Society which puts on monthly concerts, and an annual Jazz Festival and annual Chamber Music Festival. The coastal mountains dropping down into the ocean make for some splendid hiking, with scenic vistas from the top. Be sure to take your camera! In and around Pender Harbour, you'll find many lakes, for swimming, kayaking and boating, including Hotel Lake, Mixal Lake, Ruby Lake and Sakinaw Lake. |
