There are several indoor recreation centres on the Sunshine Coast offering an array of activities. Each facility has its own special focus.
Sechelt Aquatic Centre Sechelt Aquatic Centre includes a fitness centre, a studio with a sprung wood floor, a six-lane 25m lap pool, a leisure pool with a lazy river, a 250-foot waterslide, a sauna, steam room and hot tub, and fun water features (waterslide, sprayers, tumbling buckets, water curtain, and rope swing) and a diving board. The centre also has family and special-use change rooms. Sunshine Coast Arena in Sechelt promotes participation in a number of ice and dry floor activities through the offering of public sessions. Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre welcomes people of all ages. The centre offers an abundance of drop-in activities such as acting, bocce, bridge, carpet bowling, computer courses, cribbage, crafts, darts, painting, poker, square dancing and snooker, as well a number of keep-fit disciplines. Gibsons and District Aquatic Facility includes a 20m pool, a tot pool with water spray, kids warm pool and an adult hot tub. Gibsons and Area Community Centre includes racquet courts for squash and racquetball, a wellness studio, and an ice rink. The facility also includes the Youth Centre. Many activities listed in the SCRD Healthy Living Guide take place at the Community Centre, along with a variety of dryland fitness classes. Gibsons Curling Club provides residents of the Sunshine Coast, of all ages and skill levels, a venue to participate in the sport of curling in a welcoming and friendly environment. Pender Harbour Aquatic
and Fitness Centre is open from September to June for public swimming,
swimming lessons and lifeguard training. The facility offers other programs
and has a fitness room and weight room. The pool is available for private
rental. |
